Overview
File Wizard is a self-hosted web interface for converting files, running OCR and transcribing audio. It wraps common tools such as FFmpeg, LibreOffice, Pandoc and ImageMagick, along with faster-whisper and Tesseract, behind one browser page. Jobs run in the background with live status and saved history, and more converters can be added through a settings file. The README warns that local-only mode has no login, so it should stay on a trusted network.
Key features
- Converts many formats and can be extended via settings.yml
- OCR for PDFs and images in selectable languages
- Audio transcription with Whisper models
- Background jobs with status updates and history
Best for
Good for people who want one private place to convert files, OCR documents and transcribe audio. Without OIDC login, everyone who can reach the port has access.
