Overview
gzip-hpp is a header-only C++ library for gzip compression and decompression. It was extracted from mapnik-vector-tile so it could be small and reusable on its own. Functions take a pointer to a character sequence and its size, and return a std::string. You can check whether data is already compressed, compress it, or decompress it. Decompression handles both zlib and gzip data. You include only the headers your code needs.
Key features
- Header-only, include just the headers you need
- compress() returns a std::string
- decompress() decodes both gzip and zlib data
- is_compressed() checks gzip and zlib input
Best for
C++ projects that need simple gzip handling without a large dependency, such as compressing tile data.
