Overview

This open-source app turns an Android phone, tablet, or TV into an AirPlay receiver for compatible devices on the same subnet. It addresses the lack of an open-source AirPlay receiver for Android by supporting screen mirroring, video playback, and music streaming. Install it on the Android device, then connect from a compatible sender such as an iPhone, iPad, or Mac. It supports Android 7.0 and later, including Android TV. DRM content, such as content from the Apple TV app, is not supported.

Key features

  • Mirrors screens with H.264 and H.265 video decoding.
  • Streams AAC-ELD, AAC-LC, and ALAC audio.
  • Plays video and music with remote controls; music can show track information and cover art.
  • Offers optional PIN authentication and controls for resolution, overscan, frame rate, and audio latency.
  • Supports Android TV navigation, Picture-in-Picture, and native media session notification controls.

Best for

People who want to receive AirPlay on an Android phone, tablet, or TV from a compatible device on the same subnet. It is not suitable for DRM-protected content such as streams from the Apple TV app.
